Founded in 1974, the African American Arts Institute is a performing arts program operated under the Office of Acedemic Support and Diversity at Indiana University -Bloomington. The African American Arts institute is one of the premier university performing arts programs in the nation. The ensembles are offered concurrently as courses through the department of African American and African Diaspora Studies. Membership is open by audition to all students on the IU Bloomington campus.
