Dr. Charles Sykes, Executive Director

Dr. Charles Sykes

Charles Sykes has extensive experience as a music teacher, conductor, performer, and arts administrator. He is an Adjunct Professor in the IU’s Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology, the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies, and is a research associate with the Archives of African American Music and Culture. An established authority on the Detroit era of Motown Record Corporation, he has developed a course on the subject, which he teaches in the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology.
