Indiana University Aikido Club is a member of the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU) , an international
Aikido organization led by Mitsugi Saotome Shihan, a direct student
of Aikido's founder.
The ASU is, in turn, affiliated with the World Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo, which
is headed by the founder's grandson, Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu.
In terms of university affiliations, the IU Aikido Club is a
member
of the Indiana
University Club Sports Federation, a division of IU Recreational Sports.
The IU Aikido Club is also locally associated with Indianapolis
Aikikai (Joe Lavelle
Sensei) and Terre Haute Aikido (Jerry
Hargis
Sensei). This means that current IU Aikido members are encouraged
to train (free of charge) at these two dojo and vice versa. |
