People to Know in the Undergraduate ProgramThe following people are available to undergraduate students to help provide guidance and support through the Anthropology major. Director of Undergraduate Studies: The Director of Undergraduate Studies' primary responsibilities are overseeing and promoting the development of the undergraduate program in anthropology including curriculum development, university wide and community relations, and providing support to the Undergraduate Anthropology Society. For general advising issues, students first point of contact should be the Undergraduate Advisor. However, if a student has a serious problem regarding her/his coursework, needs faculty approval or would like to speak directly with a faculty member they can contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies. April Sievert is the current Director of Undergraduate Studies . Students should contact Professor Sievert for an appointment. Her office is located in Student Building 028. You can reach her by email, or phone at (812) 855-5108. Professor Sievert is available to discuss career options in anthropology, advice about getting into and choosing a graduate school, as well as academic problems or concerns. Undergraduate Advisor: Kim Hinton is the Undergraduate Advisor. She can provide students with general information about the anthropology program, major and minor requirements, course transfer questions, general academic advising questions and progress towards graduation. The Undergraduate Advisor can also provide students with information regarding field schools, overseas study options and internship possibilities. If you are interested in becoming an Anthropology major or minor or are having questions about how your current anthropology major is progressing you should contact the Undergraduate Advisor. Kim's office is located in Student Building 055. If you would like to meet with her, contact her by email or phone at (812) 856-0905 to set up an appointment. Her office hours for the second semester 06/07 academic year are Monday 2:00 to 4:00, Tuesday 1:00 to 5:00, Thursday 9:00 to 12:00, and Firday 1:00 to 4:00. Undergraduate Secretary: Susie Bernhardt is the Undergraduate Secretary for the Department of Anthropology. Susie can provide students with Registration Access Tickets, Declaration of Major and Minor Form or the paperwork required for declaring double majors. Susie is located in the Department of Anthropology Office, Student Building 130. |
