Filmmaker Alile Sharon Larkin
Alile Sharon Larkin received her M.F.A. in film and television from UCLA. Co-founder of the Black Filmmakers Collective, she has received awards for her film A Different Image (1982). In addition to directing, she has also produced several television documentaries.

Filmmaker Jessie Maple
Jessie Maple was one of the earliest pioneers in filmmaking for black women. She spent the early part of her film career as a union cameraperson and assistant film editor for several television stations in New York. After helping open up the union to women in the early 1970s, she began producing short and feature length documentaries and later the award-winning film Will (1981) and Twice as Nice (1988).

Filmmaker Yvonne Welbon
Yvonne Welbon is an award winning independent filmmaker who holds a Ph.D. in radio/television/film from Northwestern University. One of her more recent projects, Sisters in Cinema (2003), is a documentary outlining the history of African American women directors.
