The BFC/A is looking for a work-study eligible student for the fall 2007 and spring 2008 semesters who will:
QUALIFICATIONS: Reliable and works well in flexible environment. Good research, computer and communication skills. Upperclassman/woman with interest in African American studies and/or film studies and proficiency in Microsoft Office--especially Word, Access, and Excel--preferred. Student must have undergraduate status and be work-study eligible.
Hours Per Week: 10-12. Pay: $6.00/hr.

The BFC/A is looking for student volunteers to work four to six hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters. Students will work with the archivist. The job entails researching information for the media filmography database--primary sources include 1/2" video, 16mm film, BFC/A upright files and I.U. Main Library.
QUALIFICATIONS: Good research and communication skills. Basic knowledge of on-line databases, such as IUCAT, OCLC, RLIN and ERIC; basic knowledge of Internet.

The BFC/A is looking for SLIS student volunteers to work four to six hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters. The job entails organizing and labeling primary film, manuscript and photograph materials and placing them in archival containers.

The BFC/A is looking for SLIS interns for the Fall and Spring semesters. The intern will assist with processing film and material collections at the archive, Classic Lanes and Instructional Support Services. This includes indexing, labeling, creating/developing finding aids; database entry and other documentation for all materials. Assist with conservation/preservation of the archive's collections, access current status of materials and make recommendations regarding needed preservation. Search IUCAT, OCLC and other national on-line databases for additional film related resources for the filmography as well as, selected web resources for the BFC/A web site.
The intern will index articles for vertical files and for computer input. Undertake task of gathering and preparing material for filmography database, including film/video screenings. The final project requires the student to make arrangements with I.U. Main Library to exhibit the material worked with over the course of the semester.
REQUIRED: Student must be working toward the M.L.S. or M.I.S. degree. Knowledge of library computer applications including use of Word and/or WordPerfect 6, 7, or 8 software. Ability to work cooperatively and independently.
PREFERRED: Knowledge of courses related to Collection Development and Management and Principles of Archives and Manuscript. Familiarity with Microsoft Access database software; the ability to search on-line databases; and, an interest in the archival/preservation of African American cinema.
