Welcome to GARNet, the Global Ageing Research Network!

"Setting standards for cross-cultural ageing well systems and for healthy older people in the 21st century."
The mission of the Global Ageing Research Network (GARNet) is to provide leadership in the expansion of global participation and cooperation in research, education, and information dissemination that will support older people who are ageing well in the 21st century. GARNet strategic activities include multi-nation research on adult well-being that will produce an empirically-based index for ageing well. Phase one of this research involves a measurement-based study that is modeling the indicators and determinants of ageing well; phase one will be completed by December 2004. Phase two will apply the ageing well index in studies that are focused on specific policy issues and targets. The goal of GARNet is to provide scientific evidence to guide policy reviews and developments that promote ageing well systems, communities, and personal behaviors.
