Canterbury
on Thursdays
The Canterbury Fellowship will gather at Trinity Church each Thursday at
5:15 pm for Evening Prayer and Eucharist. Following the service, we
shall have dinner and conversation at Hillel, the Jewish center for
campus ministry. Hillel is located at 730 E. Third Street. The cross
street is Woodlawn. The staff at Hillel will be teaching us how to cook
kosher meals.
Lutheran/Episcopal
Campus Ministry Events
We have planned many activities this year with the Lutheran Campus
Ministry (ELCA). On the
second Sunday of each month, we shall hold a joint service on campus at
Beck Chapel. Upcoming services are scheduled for 5:00 pm on February 10,
March 16, and April 13, 2008.
Episcopal Campus Ministry 2008 Lenten Study
Series
From Lenten Anxiety to Easter Hope:
An Introduction to Systems Theory as It Applies to Everyday Life
This Lenten series will have three
purposes:
- To acquire knowledge of family systems
theory and apply it to everyday life in the church and in the
academy.
- To reflect theologically on the
Passion of Christ from this perspective.
- To learn tools for self-reflection,
community action, and conflict resolution.
Series leaders: The Venerable Linda J.
MacDonald, archdeacon of the Diocese of Michigan, and Mother Linda C.
Johnson+, Episcopal Chaplain to IU.
Text: Ed Friedmann, A Failure of
Nerve: Leadership in a Time of the Quick Fix.
Session dates, times, and locations are
included in the list of upcoming events below. Each session will focus
on how to remain connected, but to be self-differentiated in a highly
anxious system. Deacon Linda will provide concrete suggestions, tips,
and strategies for action, and Mother Linda+ will lead the concluding
Bible study.
Participants will need to sign up in
advance, as well as buy a copy of the text. For further information, or
to register for the series, send an e-mail message to Mother Linda+
("lijohnso" at "indiana" dot "edu").
