Undergraduate Funding
General lists of undergraduate funding:

The Office of Scholarships is part of the Office of Student Financial Assistance but has a separate website. This well-ordered, comprehensive site describes IU's automatic scholarships and links to departments and programs that administer separate scholarships (Hudson and Holland, Hutton Honors, Kelley, Research Scholars, Adam W. Herbert Presidential Scholars, Wells Scholars).
The Office of Student Financial Assistance primarily deals with loans and federal need-based grants; however, they link to some statewide and other grants and administer some non-federal grants either directly or in partnership with other campus departments.

Internship funding:
There are few sources of internal funding for internships. Hutton Honors College offers grants for international, teaching, and professional experience internships.
Also, grants are available to support participation in IU Overseas Study programs in select destinations with internship components. See additional details on the Overseas Study website.

The APA (American Psychological Association) offers fellowships to students who plan to offer services to ethnic minorities or research issues of mental health and ethnic minorities:
"Bridge" Funding
There are a few sources of "bridge" funding scholarships or fellowships that are open to current undergraduates and either fund a post-graduate position or carry a student from undergraduate studies into graduate school.
The Hutton Honors College's "List of Major Graduate Awards" includes many sources of bridge funding. Some of these must be applied for in your sophomore or junior year:

- Coro Fellows Program for post-graduate civic engagement, administered through seven regional centers offering varying levels of support
- Indiana Governor's Fellowship work in the governor's office for a year following college
- Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship apply while a sophomore to fund junior, senior, and graduate study
Graduate Funding
Departmental funding is not included here because it is so restricted; check with your department to see what travel grants or other internal funding is available to you.

The Anthropology Graduate Student Association maintains a list of general, external graduate funding.
The Department of Computer Science maintains a list of internal and external funding, not all of which is related to computer science.
The GradGrants Center, which is a division of the Graduate School, lists some fellowships, scholarships, and assistantships, as well as some external grants. The Center maintains a list of external sponsor organizations and funding agencies. Four searchable grants databases are available through the Center. The Center staff also provide one-on-one help searching for grants and writing grant proposals.

Hutton Honors College maintains two lists of graduate awards and funding:
The Office of Student Financial Assistance administers graduate loans. They administer one state grant, CVO, that graduate students who pay in-state resident tuition and who are children of veterans are eligible for.
The Teaching and Learning Technologies Center focuses on faculty, but lists grants that graduate students could apply for:
Graduate funding offered by colleges and schools:
This list excludes funding restricted to a single field (e.g., business, optometry, and journalism).
The College of Arts and Sciences administers five awards for Arts and Sciences students.
HPER (the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation) offers many internal scholarships that only HPER grad students can apply for.
The School of Informatics maintains a list of graduate scholarships; most are open to non-Informatics students.
The Office of International Programs administers research and travel grants as well as foreign exchange agreements. They also list information for well-known external fellowships of more general interest.
SPEA (the School of Public and Environmental Affairs) maintains lists of scholarships, fellowships, and awards. Most of these are directed at their own students, but the external funding is open to all:

The European Union Center offers grants to graduates researching issues related to the EU.
The Center for the Study of Global Change offers travel grants and administers Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships:
The Graduate and Professional Organization offers small awards to new graduate and professional students as well as a travel grant:
The IU Foundation administers many scholarships; most are directed at undergraduates, but a handful are open to grad students as well.
Residential Programs and Services hire graduate staff; some positions include free housing.

Other Resources
There are a number of books, like Free Money for Graduate School, that organize nationally competitive fellowships with varying schemes (e.g., field of study, personal characteristics). Online sites like fastweb.com do the same thing with better search options and intrusive advertising. Other books, like Financing Graduate School and Paying for Graduate School, provide more general explanations and advice. Financial aid books can be found in our Career Resource Library, the Wells Library Graduate Study section in the Information Commons, and the Grad Grants Center.
