Undergraduate Minor :: Undergraduate Programs

Central Eurasian Studies is currently planning to introduce an undergraduate minor by Fall ’09. The following is an outline of the minor requirements that we are presenting to the College for approval.

Students graduating before August ‘09 may still receive a 21-23 credit Undergraduate Certificate. Please contact Professor Elliot Sperling or April Younger in the CEUS office for details.

The Central Eurasian Studies Department offers two undergraduate programs: 1) an undergraduate minor, and 2) an undergraduate minor with language and area certification. The first program allows maximum flexibility in the fulfillment of minor requirements while the second pushes more rigor and balance between development of language skills and multi-disciplinary knowledge of our regions of specialization.

Minor in Central Eurasian Studies.
Students must complete at least 15 credit hours of CEUS or cross-listed courses, selected in consultation with the CEUS director of undergraduate studies, with a minimum GPA of 2.000.

Minor in Central Eurasian Studies with language and area certificate.
Students must complete a total of at least 15 credit hours of CEUS or cross-listed courses, selected in consultation with the CEUS director of undergraduate studies, with a minimum GPA of 2.000, including:

For both programs at least 8 credit hours of the CEUS classes must be taken at the Bloomington campus and 6 credit hours must be 300-level or above. No more than 6 credit hours of non-CEUS cross-listed classes will be counted for either the minor or the minor with certificate.
