Welcome to Hungarian Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. This unique program provides students with the opportunity to become acquainted with the culture, language, literature, politics, and history of Hungary. It is the only Hungarian Studies program in North America that offers an MA and a Ph.D in Hungarian Studies. Established already in the early 1960s, IU’s curriculum in Hungarian Studies is centered in the Department of Central Eurasian Studies (CEUS). The permanent faculty, together with the György Ránki Hungarian Chair and the Visiting language teacher, offer a very high level of instruction in various fields of Hungarian Studies.
