- Students seeking credit for courses that count towards a CLACS degree (eg. undergraduate minor, MA, PhD minor, etc.) will find links to updated course information below. Students can also review course information directly through the official Indiana University Registrar Office.

- In general, any course in the IUB Course Bulletin is eligible for CLACS credit with prior approval from a CLACS academic advisor. The "rule of thumb" is that the course must contain 25% Latin American related content. If you have questions contact:

The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies offers interdisciplinary programs that provide for the varied interests of students and prepare them for careers in research, teaching, or management in public, private, or nonprofit sectors.
Students may choose from more than 30 College of Arts and Sciences' course offerings every academic year, in disciplines such as anthropology, folklore, geography, history, literature, and political science. The Schools of Business, Education, Journalism, Library and Information Science (SLIS), Music, and Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) also have courses on the region. CLACS offers several core interdisciplinary courses in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and sponsors semester-long seminars that allow faculty and graduate students to discuss their research.
Students also benefit from strong language programs at Indiana University. The Department of Spanish and Portuguese offers numerous language acquisition courses for undergraduate and graduate students. The Creole Institute coordinates regular courses on Haitian Creole. And CLACS sponsors courses on Nahuatl and Yucatec Maya, both Mexican indigenous languages, and Quechua, an indigenous language of the Andes.
There are also opportunities for study, research, and training in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Office of Overseas Studies offers annual study abroad programs in Mexico, Chile, and Peru, among other countries, for undergraduate students. CLACS coordinates internships in the region for graduate students.
The links below lead to the Latin American and Caribbean studies courses offered by CLACS and to the numerous cross-listed courses on Latin America and the Caribbean offered by the various departments and schools throughout IU. Graduate students may enroll in courses at the 300 and 400 level only if the course appears in the Graduate School Bulletin and will be required to complete additional coursework requirements. While it is the responsibility of students to make certain that they have fulfilled all the requirements of their degree, they must first seek approval from the director of CLACS before undertaking courses.
