Students
Derek Gleason is a second year M.A. student at CLACS with a focus in history, specifically modern El Salvador. Other academic interests include memorial culture and U.S.-Latin America Cold War relations.
Eric Stumpner is in his second year of the Masters program at CLACS. His research focuses on discourses and forms of resistance in modern Latin America, the use of race and ethnicity to preserve land and political rights, modern social movements, political ramifications of ethnography, with a general focus on Nicaragua, particularly in the revolutionary period.
Julia Sorcinelli is a first year Masters student at CLACS. Her principal area of interest is Caribbean Studies, with a focus on Dominican history and culture during and after the Trujillo dictatorship. She is also interested in how Dominican-Haitian relations changed during and after the Trujillo regime. Finally, she would like to gain experience in community/regional planning and development in Latin America.
Pam Sanders is a second year M.A. student also getting her certification to teach secondary Spanish. Prior to IU, Pam worked as a project manager at Procter & Gamble and then lived and worked in Mexico City for 5 years in non-profit work. Pam's areas of interest are Mexican history, Latino immigration history, Spanish-American literature, and Latin American popular music.
