Distinguished Faculty Award 2000

The College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Board held its Annual Recognition Banquet on Friday, October 13, 2000, in the Tudor Room of the Indiana Memorial Union. Dean Kumble R. Subbaswamy presented the awards in a ceremony following the banquet.

Joseph E. Steinmetz

The Distinguished Faculty Award was presented to Joseph E. Steinmetz, the Eleanor Cox Riggs Professor of Social Sciences and Ethics and chair of the Department of Psychology. Professor Steinmetz joined the faculty of the College of Arts & Sciences in 1987 after receiving degrees from Central Michigan University and The Ohio University. He spoke of the supportive and stimulating environment he has found for teaching and research in IU's highly-ranked Department of Psychology. Professor Steinmetz celebrated the evening with members of his family and colleagues from his department. He was also joined by Eleanor Cox Riggs, the donor of Dr. Steinmetz's professorship, and her husband, Dr. Wendell Riggs.
