Action:
  • Approved minutes from April 8, 2005 as written.
  • Approved requiring a TOEFL score for admission to a second undergraduate degree for international students from countries where English is not the language of instruction. Cut-off scores will be set in line with other programs at the university. (This requirement will be in place for students who have not otherwise been admitted to the university in undergraduate status and who are applying to the university for admission directly into a second undergraduate degree program in the College.)
Discussion:
General Education: CUE discussion continued on the topic of the BFC proposal and Professor Bill Wheeler’s response to the College’s talking points. CUE asked the Associate Dean’s office to work over the summer to prepare materials that could be used at the department level in fall discussions of general education.
An information item at the meeting: change to include required minimum grade in prerequisite courses as part of course prerequisites (TEL).
Meeting was adjourned at 12:30.
The next meeting will take place in the fall semester of 2005.
