Action
  • The minutes of November 8, 2004 were approved with the correction to include the time that the meeting began.
  • Near Eastern Languages and Cultures Proposal for Tracks in the current B.A., approved as written.
  • Certificate proposal in Game Studies from Department of Telecommunications Approved with these stipulations:
    • that the proposal indicate that at least 9 of the 15 elective credit hours must be at the 300-400 level
    • that the proposal indicate that students be allowed to earn only one of the following four credentials: minor in Telecommunications, major in Telecommunications, Area Certificate in New Media and Interactive Storytelling, or Area Certificate in Game Studies.
Discussion
  • Follow-up to Senior Year Initiatives – Arts and Sciences Career Services courses Suggestion from CUE:
    Form steering committee charged with examining goals, objectives, assessment, and relationship to College degree programs
  • Proposed change in French major Discussion will continue at future meeting once the department has had the opportunity to respond to issues raised.
  • Review of Distribution Principles – tabled until next meeting.
  • Statistics and N&M Distribution – CUE determined that, for a number of reasons, it is premature to act on the request at this time, and discussion was tabled. Catharine Hoff will convey this information to the two relevant departments.
Meeting was adjourned at 2:30. Spring 2005 meetings are not yet scheduled.
