Attitudes and Values:
Workshops may be designed to assist participants to explore feelings and values in helpful,
non-threatening ways through videotapes, discussions, and interactive presentations.
Behavior Change:
Workshops focus on creating a supportive, positive, environment to promote and encourage
behavior change through the use of:
- assertiveness training / skills
- realistic goal setting
- implementing personal safety strategies
- enhancing good communication in social and dating situations

- What do you think the level of factual information is among the individuals who will attend?
- How long do you want the program to be?
- Who will attend? Is it all women, all men, or a mixed group?

- Campus Rape (SACS)(OWA)
Time: 21 minutes (videotape)
This film explores rape and its impact through interviews with four college students who were
assaulted on campus. The video examines the widespread problem of sexual assault on college
campuses and provides information about the prevention of this crime. Features Susan Dey and
Corbin Bernsen.
- Date Rape: "No" Isn't Always Enough (SACS)
Time: 30 minutes (videotape)
A series of vignettes performed by teenage actors, this teaching piece is gauged for a teenage
audience. The video addresses a wide variety of communication and dating issues. It also depicts
the difficulties of a rape victim in the healing process. Advice is given to both men and women on
avoiding rape.
- It Still Hurts (OWA)
Time 24 minutes (videotape)
Filmed at Auburn University, this video depicts the excitement of a college woman as she
prepares to go out on a date with a man from one of her classes. It seems to her the date is going
well, and she is shocked and unprepared when he forces sex upon her. With the help of her
supportive roommate, the victim accepts that she has been raped. Following the scenario, there is
an interview with an actual victim who describes her rape by two acquaintances and her recovery
process.
- Playing the Game (SACS)(OWA)
Time: 15 minutes (videotape)
Excellent film that addresses the difference in male/female perceptions. Particularly good for
fraternities as the incident is portrayed as the result of a fraternity party. The views of several
fraternity men the morning after are portrayed as are the views of the victim and two other
women.
- Rape is Not Just a Woman's Problem (SACS)(OWA)
Time: 15 minutes (videotape)
Addresses the responsibility of men. Designed to remove the stigma that women are to blame for
rape and that it is their responsibility to prevent it.
- Rethinking Rape (AV)
Time: 25 minutes (16mm)
Explores the issue of rape by dealing with society's attitudes and practices which contribute to the
problem. Uses interviews of victims, counselors, and psychologists and narration of several rape
situations. Gives particular attention to the problem of acquaintance rape and touches on the
issues of pornography, advertising and beauty contests, sex education, and the lasting after-effects
on the victims.
- Someone You Know (SACS)(AV)(OWA)
Time: 30 minutes (videotape)
Shows the effect of acquaintance rape on the victims, looks at the underlying causes, and explains
what can be done to help the victims and prevent the crime. Examines the myths about rape and
dispels them by interviewing actual rape victims and convicted rapists. Suggests ways that
women can take preventative and protective measures and point out to men that the ultimate
solution is up to them.
- Stop Date Rape (SACS)(OWA)
Time: 20 minutes (videotape)
This video is a teaching piece and useful for programming. The first scenario depicts a freshman
women and a junior man at a fraternity party. The scene ends in the rape of the woman. The
second part of the video depicts the same situation with the same actors, however, the behaviors
have changed and the communication is much improved. The scenario ends with the two leaving
for a cup of coffee, the rape does not occur.
- Untrue Friends: Acquaintance Rape on Campus (SACS)
Time: 24 minutes (videotape)
This video depicts two college women attending a party at a men's residence hall. While at the
party one of the women is the victim of an attempted rape. Much of the video deals with how the
characters react to the incident and how they see it from their own perspective. Attitudes and
values are addressed.
- Acquaintance Rape - The Broken Trust (SACS)
Time: 22 minutes (videotape)
This video shows interviews with women who have been raped. It provides insight into the
psychology of rape, the trauma rape has on victims and information about the helpfulness of
treatment.
- The Judicial System at Indiana University - A Victim / Witness Guide (SACS)
Time: 15 minutes (videotape)
This video was created by the Office of Student Ethics to provide individuals with a realistic
picture of how the campus judicial system operates in cases of rape / sexual assault.
- Toward an Even Safer Campus (SACS)(OWA)
Time: 11 minutes (videotape)
This video is a production of the Indiana University Commission on Personal Safety. Filmed on
and around the IU campus, actual students provide personal safety information.
- No Visible Bruises - The Katie Koestner Story (AV)
Time: 30 minutes (videotape)
This is a thirty minute segment portraying the true life story of Katie Koestner who was raped on
a college campus by her date.
- Dating Violence - The Hidden Secret (SACS)
Time: 25 minutes (videotape)
This video examines emotional, psychological and physical violence in relationships. It discusses
the issues of power and control and the cyclical nature of relationship violence.
- Stop Sexual Harassment on Campus (OWA)
Time: 24 minutes (videotape)
A series of vignettes depicting various facets of sexual harassment in academia. The situations
present a clear look at hostile environments. This film would be useful in a workshop, however,
additional information and interpretation would be essential.
- You Are the Game: Sexual Harassment on Campus (OWA)
Time: 60 minutes (videotape)
This video is more useful for research or informational purposes rather than in presentations. It
dramatizes the situations of two college women who have experienced different forms of sexual
harassment. Most of this discussion focuses on the difficulty students have in dealing in isolation
with a pattern of harassment and the impact it has on their lives.
