Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs of Indiana University is seeking faculty for the position of Director of the Hudson & Holland Scholars Program (HHSP). The position is a half time, FTE 0.5, appointment with 100% summer support. It is assumed that the applicant would retain a FTE 0.5 appointment in their original academic home. The Director of HHSP provides visionary academic and administrative leadership for Indiana University’s premier program designed to recruit and retain high achieving minority and other students with a strong commitment to social justice. The director is responsible for the HHSP, the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Progress (LSAMP), and several other related college enrichment program activities. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a tenured or long term faculty member on the IUB. Minimum of a master’s degree. Because of the academic nature of the program, preference will be given to persons with collegiate level teaching experience. Demonstrated ability and sensitivity for working with diverse students. Ability to work collaboratively across the university with both faculty and staff in a multi-disciplinary environment to create and implement academic excellence programs. A commitment and experience in academic excellence improvement programs. Coordinator of Teacher Education Assessments academic position will begin September 1, 2008. This position is responsible for the management and analyses of student assessments and programmatic surveys in the teacher education programs. This work is central to required state and professional accreditation processes. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: Manages student teaching performance assessment processes, including individual remediation for students. Hires, trains, supports and conducts performance assessment of university supervisors. Develops / implements / assesses the Student Teaching Seminar. Completes annual analyses of student teaching performance assessments and programmatic survey data. Works in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Teacher Education and Education Technology Services to develop / implement / assess the integration of candidate assessment profiles within the Teacher Education Information System and/or candidate e-portfolios. Works in collaboration with professional staff and faculty in the development of appropriate candidate and program assessments. Education and Experience: Master’s degree require in education-related field. Working knowledge of teacher education programs, assessment, and data analysis. Demonstrated communication skills and rapport with a wide range of professional educators, both at the higher education and public school levels. Demonstrated strong organizational, supervisory and collaborative working skills. The Operations and Decision Technologies Department of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business anticipates the need for several full-time and part-time lecturer positions available August 2008. The main responsibility of these lecturers is to teach lab sections of introductory technology courses. The Indiana University Molecular structure Center (located in the Department of Chemistry) has an opening for a qualified individual experienced with small molecule crystallography beginning September 1, 2008. Candidates must have a PhD in the Physical Sciences. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with faculty and students in all aspects of crystallographic analysis including data collection; solution, refinement and interpretation of structures; preparation of manuscripts; and user support and training. Experience with instrument maintenance/repair is expected. Knowledge in powder diffraction, information technology, programming as well as teaching and grant writing experience are desirable but not required. The appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate Scientist level depending on the candidate's qualifications. The IUMSC is a world-class laboratory with modern instruments (three multiple purpose and one powder diffractometers) and excellent support equipment (liquid nitrogen generation, microscopes, etc). The IUMSC is also actively involved in crystallographic informatics projects such as the Reciprocal Net and the Common Instrument Middleware Initiative. Indiana University has significantly expanded its NMR capabilities with the installation of 600 and 800 MHz Varian Inova spectrometers in the new METACyt Biomolecular NMR Laboratory in Simon Hall. We now seek to appoint a Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopist at the Assistant Scientist (research-track) level, effective October 1, 2008. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Structural Biology or a related field; two years postdoctoral experience is desired. The successful candidate will have documented experience with the application and optimization of modern biological NMR spectroscopy to structural studies of proteins. Familiarity with aligned systems and nucleic acids is desirable. Experience with the operation and maintenance of high field NMR spectrometers (600 and 800 MHz) and cryogenic probe systems is required, and knowledge of hardware and Unix-based software maintenance is essential. Familiarity with Varian systems and methods of NMR data analysis through structure calculation and validation stages are also desirable but not necessary. Indiana University invites applications for the position of Clinical Veterinarian, Laboratory Animal Resources. This position is for an academically oriented laboratory animal veterinarian who will support the University Life Sciences Initiatives on the Bloomington campus. Specific duties of the Clinical Veterinarian will entail providing clinical care to a diverse population of research animals, surgical support for animal researchers and conducting training programs in animal care and use for animal care staff and researchers. This individual will participate in the activities of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and will work with the Director of Laboratory Animal Resources in implementing a campus-wide program of rodent health surveillance. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a veterinary degree from an AVMA accredited institution and a current license to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state in the US. Obtaining a license to practice veterinary medicine in Indiana and Federal accreditation in order to issue health certificates is expected. Completion of a formal postdoctoral training in laboratory animal medicine or equivalent professional experience, excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills are also required. The Laboratory Animal Clinical Veterinarian is a full-time, non-tenured, academic position whose rank and salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
