Susan Nelson Susan Nelson is professor of Art History and East Asian Languages and Cultures at Indiana University. Among other things, she studies the conjunctions of pictorial art with other forms of expression: representations of sounds in Chinese pictures, and the interactions of images and written texts. Paintings inspired by the poetry of Tao Qian (365-427) are of particular interest to her, and are the subject of this talk.
