Wood & Strings Puppet Theatre

"Out of the Mist, A Dragon"

Friday, July 23, 2004

Performing for four consecutive years for National Geographic Live! in Washington, DC has honed the skills of Wood & Strings Puppet Theatre to perfection. A nationally-touring company that utilizes puppetry styles from around the world, their performance of "Out of the Mist.A Dragon" is a fantastic tale set in ancient Japan. Lotus, the daughter of a warlord, falls in love with a humble fisherman, earning the wrath of her father, who magically transforms the fisherman into a spectacular 9-foot dragon. The tale follows the dragon as he travels the world, searching for the keys of wisdom that will break the spell.

Marvelous, Magical Creatures from East Asia
at the Monroe County Public Library

Anea children joined EASC staff on July 9, 2004 to meet famous Chinese, Japanese, and Korean mythical characers. They learned why these creatures are special: some are faithful friends while others are tricksters to beware.  And some...are simply magical, mystical beings of another world. Participants heard stories of these fantastic beasts, made a creature of their own, and sampled some fabulous East Asian food treats.  For older preschool through grade 6 children.
