A fictionalized extension of a documentary produced for Korean television in 1983. Working in concert with the Red Cross, the documentary makers endeavored to unite relatives from both the North and South sectors of Korea, who’d been separated by the war thirty years earlier. The film concentrates on Kim Ji Mi, who dreams of a reunion with her illegitimate son after watching the documentary. With the blessings of her husband, Kim heads to the television station, all the while flashbacking to her youth during the war.

Korean with English subtitles. 1986. Im Kwon-Teik. 97 mins.

The film will be proceeded by a brief introduction and followed by a discussion session led by Ms. Jeeyoung Shin, an IU graduate student from South Korea.
