East Asian Box Lessons

The East Asian Studies Center has made available, as an additional resource to your classroom materials, lesson supplements showing the cultural life of various East Asian countries. Each box lesson has cultural artifacts and suggested activity plans to assist in creating an understanding of East Asian culture amongst your students.

The materials come in a box and are available for rent by any K-12 teacher in the continental United States. In order to obtain one of the East Asian Boxes, the East Asian Studies Center requires that every teacher send a check of $25 (for each box) to the East Asian Studies Center as a deposit for the upkeep of the materials in each box. After receiving the deposit, the East Asian Studies Center will ship the box of your choice to your school (depending on availability). Once you receive the box lesson, you have two weeks (14 days) to use it in your classroom. After that time, the Center requires you to send back the box. If we receive the box without any materials missing or damaged, then the deposit that each teacher sent in will be destroyed.

Before requesting a box, we recommend that you check its availability by calling (812) 855-3765 or email easc@indiana.edu.

To order one or more of the five East Asian Boxes: Please fill out the reservation form, or call 812-855-3765. Once the East Asian Studies Center receives your reservation request, we will contact you to confirm the date requested and notify you of the availability. Please print the form off and mail it with your check for each box to the address below. The East Asian Studies Center asks you to understand that we may not be able to fulfill all reservation requests.

China Box which contains information about going to school, Chinese games, daily life in China, Chinese New Year
