Kyonghoeru was first constructed on the pond at Kyongbok Palace in 141Z It was rebuilt in 1867 after it burned down during the Japanese invasions at the end of the 16th century. Originally dragons were carved in the 49 stone columns, but these were not included in the structure when it was rebuilt
