505. Stoneware Funeral
Urn, Stoneware with olive-green glaze and stamped designs Unified Silla, ca. eighth century National Treasure No. 125, Height 16.5cm, Diameter of body 8.&m, National Museum of Korea The mouth of this bowl-shaped urn is recessed so that the cover fits over it. In the center of the cover is a four-petalled auspicious flower surrounded by two rows of jewel patterns. The same hanging jewels are found on the body of the urn with flower petals and rope patterns above and below. The yellow-green glaze was applied to both the inside and out-side of the urn and cover. This urn is one of the best exam-ples of olive-green glazing from the Unified Silla period. Click here to return |
