The Korean people invented the world's first movable metal type printing in the early 13th century, 200 years before Gutenberg's Bible. Unfortunately, the original book was lost, although its title is known today. This Buddhist scripture, now preserved at the National Library of France, is believed to be the earliest extant sample of metal type printing in the world. It was published in 1377 in Ch'ongju where a memori-al printing museum has been inaugurated.
