    Public Governance Institutions and their Impact on Delocalization of Labor Intensive Industries: The Case of Estonia

Alari Purju is an economist at the Tallinn University of Technology. His work has focused on the effects of transition to EU membership on economic policies and the business environment in Estonia.

Sidney Tarrow is the Maxwell Upson Professor of Government and Sociology at Cornell University. His areas of interest include comparative politics, social movements, political parties and collective action, and political sociology.

This symposium will focus on the challenges globalization poses to both the legitimacy and efficacy of nation-state based democracy. It will bring together scholars working on the EU to address issues of both immediate topical and broader theoretical interests.  Participants include Glyn Morgan (Government, Harvard University), Dario Castiglione (Politics, University of Exeter), Alessandro Ferrara (Philosophy, University of Rome, Tor Vergata), James Bohman (Philosophy, Saint Louis University), and Nadia Urbinati (Political Science, Columbia University).  For additional information, please contact Jeff Pennington at japennin@indiana.edu.
