The European Union Center of Excellence plans to conduct its next three-week program in Europe in May of 2009. The trip will focus on the opportunities and challenges faced by the evolving European Union and its member states.

The course prepares approximately 20 graduate and upper-level undergraduate students for advanced studies or professional careers in the international arena. Students benefit from hands-on experience with real policy issues in seminars with high-profile public and private executives, policy makers, and academicians.

Typically, this graduate course focuses on such matters as:

  • The Constitutional debate in Europe: The EU transition to new forms of governance
  • The adaptation of major EU nations - particularly France and Germany - to this new paradigm
  • The role of the EU and national courts in shaping European societal, economic, and political life
