G131 EXERCISES - contd.

Recommended Procedure :
  • Visit the web pages for the specific exercise via oncourse and follow the links to examine the data sets for individual questions, aided by the introductory notes.
  • You are recommended to save your answers in a document file, thereby guaranteeing a back-up copy that can be submitted as a paper version if you experience computational problems!
  • One option is to the questions by cutting and pasting your answers from your own document into the appropriate box for each question on the exercise submission page within oncourse.
  • When completed ensure you submit the exercise using the send button.
  • IMPORTANT. You CANNOT SAVE a partially completed exercise within oncourse.
  • Hence, the strong recommendation that you first prepare and collate your answers outside of the oncourse setting.
  • IMPORTANT. You should check that your answers have been submitted in oncourse using the review feature.
  • All exercises can only be answered ONCE.
  • If you accidently submit any exercise using the send button in error, please inform me via an email message to simon@indiana.edu

Exercise Questions:
  • The answers to individual questions vary in format, and may require:
    • a numerical value, or a description of an observed feature of a map or graph
    • an explanaton of an observation or interpretation
    • comparison of different values, behavior or processes
    • assessment of the relationship between different measurements
  • The points available for answers to individual questions differ:
    • Some questions are written with multiple parts, often related to different information from the same source.
    • Typically, the points available reflect the complexity of the question and the anticipated length and detail required for a good answer.
    • Always explain the basis for your answer.
    • A yes or no answer is never worth 4 points!
    • Some are bonus questions, and are labeled accordingly.
