Course Offerings

Core Courses

Five required interdisciplinary core courses will orient each student to the theoretical, methodological, epistemological, social, political, and interpersonal innovations of our new and developing field.  These courses are: Concepts of Gender, Sexualized Genders/Gendered Sexualities; Contemporary Debates in Feminist Theory; Researching Gender Issues; and Feminist Theory: Classic Texts and Founding Debates. For course descriptions, see this link.

In consultation with their academic advisors, students will select elective courses suitable to their chosen area of concentration and their graduate minor. Elective courses are offered both within and outside the Department of Gender Studies.

For descriptions of elective courses taught in Gender Studies, see this link.

Keep in mind that the courses listed on our website constitute only a fraction of available options - many units on campus offer courses and graduate minors that feed into our doctoral program. For more information,  see this link
