Resources for HIV/AIDS Concerns

The CAAG

The CAAG is a coalition of member agencies and individuals who network to address HIV/AIDS locally and globally. Primarily a prevention mechanism, the CAAG also assists agencies in their support of individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Further the CAAG is responsible for distributing state-provided funds to assist HIV/AIDS related organizations in the dispatch of their individual missions. The member agencies are as follows: Bloomington Hospital Positive Link, Student Global AIDS Campaign, Indiana University Health Center, Monroe County Health Department, and Outreach Kenya Development Volunteers. To learn more about the CAAG and how to get involved please visit our website at http://www.thecaag.org

Monroe County Health Department

The primary goal of disease intervention is to prevent the spread of disease and the development of complications. MCHD provides intervention services for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV. The program is comprised of the following core components: 1) surveillance; 2) case detection through screening; 3) case follow-up; 4) education.

HIV Prevention Counseling and Testing is routinely provided at 3 sites: Monroe County Health Department (MCHD) being the primary testing site, Monroe County Jail (MCJ), and Vigo County Health Department (VCHD). Testing is also done through special outreach events and during field visits.

The Monroe County Health Department Disease Intervention Office offers free HIV Antibody Testing, both confidential and anonymous. We have OraQuick, OraSure Swab and blood draws for HIV Testing. We provide blood draws for Syphilis and Hepatitis if needed. The DIS provides partner notification for all positive STD's. Awareness and Prevention programming for individuals, groups and corporations are offered upon request. We are a State funded program and serve 12 counties: Bartholomew, Brown, Clay, Greene, Lawrence, Monroe, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo.

Testing hours are:
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
