Directory of Grants in the Humanities, 1993-94, 7th edition. Contains 3808 current funding programs that support research and performance in literature, language, linguistics, history, anthropology, philosophy, ethics, religion, and the fine and performing arts.
Directory of Indiana Donors, 1989-90. A comprehensive listing of active grantmaking foundations, trusts, and scholarship programs in Indiana. It includes profiles for 475 donors whose grants paid were at least $2,000 in most recently reported financial year.
Directory of International Corporate Giving in America and Abroad,
1992. The third edition includes information on charitable giving activities in the United States of foreign owned firms as well as U.S. companies that give internationally.
Dissertation Proposal Guidebook This "down-to-earth" book provides a step by step approach toward dissertation development, as well as including useful samples illustrating each step. The book also includes a useful index of commonly used methodology terms, a bibliography of possible sources, and several useful models. Easy to follow and practical, it is important to note that many of the examples are oriented toward research in educational institution settings.

Environmental Grantmaking Foundations 1999 This resource features profiles of 809 grantmakers who collectively give over 500 million dollars a year in environmental grants. The majority of the grants are sponsored by agencies located within the United States, but the directory does include international funding agencies as well as agencies that support for international projects. Each entry includes an address as well as additional contact information and a short description of the history and philosophy of each organization followed by a listing of sample grant awarded in previous competitions.
Evaluating Social Science Research, An Introduction While primarily written to "teach how to design research," this book focuses on the evaluation of completed research as an avenue for understanding the process. It includes a lengthy section on population selection and the impact of these methods on your final outcome. It also provides a useful "Profiling Sheet" for evaluating the research methods and outcomes. If you are stumped about what the reviewers are looking for, this is the book to look at.

Getting Funded: A Complete Guide to Proposal Writing, 3rd edition, 1988. Continuing Education Publications Portland State University P.O. Box 1491 Portland, OR 97207 $23.45. (ISBN No. 0-87678-070-2) Provides step-by-step guidance from idea to finished proposal. Also included in this revised edition are resource lists, cases, models, checklists, and sample formats along with added information on foundation and corporate funding sources.

Grants for Graduate Study, 1992 edition. A comprehensive list of fellowships, grants and other programs that provide financial support to graduate students.
Grants Register, 1991-93. Lists scholarships and fellowships at all levels of graduate study as well as research awards, exchange opportunities, and travel grants in major English-speaking countries.
H-K Krathwohl's book views dissertation research and funding as parallel activities. Thus, it helps the student gear his/her dissertation proposal to meet both the needs of funding sources and the requirements of the discipline. While specifically designed for students in the Social and Behavioral Sciences, this book offers practical advice and useful techniques for any student who is submitting a grant proposal.
How to Write Proposals That Produce Discusses the art and science of writing good research proposals.
The Journalist's Road to Success. 1993 Guide offers a discussion of journalism career opportunities, based on information the Fund receives from students who have just finished college, from professional newspaper editors, and from college teachers; provides a comprehensive listing that will help students locate a university that offers the best possible blend of academic and practical experience; and lists all known journalism scholarships.
National Directory of Internships, 1994-95 edition. This source lists sponsoring organizations using three indices -- field of interest, alphabetical, and geographical -- to internships available in the United States. Also includes a few international possibilities. A good source for the master's student to examine.
Need a Lift?, 41st edition, 1992. Contains condensed information regarding career opportunities and educational benefits for graduate and undergraduate students. Emphasis on opportunities available to children of deceased and disabled veterans.
Practical Research Planning and Design, 4th edition, (1989). Book is suitable for all courses in basic research methodology, including education, nursing, sociology, the behavioral or the social sciences, business administration, geography, landscape architecture, or allied academic disciplines.
Reliability and Validity In Qualitative Research One of three Sage Publications books recently added to the collection, this resource provides a description of various theoretical schools of thought regarding the validity and reliability issues specific to qualitative research. It also includes a handy glossary of terms used in qualitative research reports such as "diachronic reliability."
S-Z Six indices aid in fast access to grant information by type of funding sought. Includes charts of standard sources by subject area for graduate, doctoral and postdoctoral research. Vocational Goals Index provides details concerning course of study, level of study, type of award, residence, affiliation, and citizenship requirements. Alphabetical index of Sponsors and Scholarships cross-references all administering agencies, donors, and awards. Also includes Field of Study Index, Legal Resident Index, Place of Study Index, Special Recipient Index.
Systematic Data Collection Coding, clustering and sampling are all steps covered in this book. Weller and Romney's book is useful for those trying to develop a meaningful set of research questions while also preparing a frame for interpreting the data gathered.
Taft Corporate Giving Directory, 1991. Directory provides detailed descriptive profiles of 500 of the largest and most important corporate charitable giving programs in the US.
Taft Foundation Reporter, 1991. Directory was created to help development officers and fund raisers find charitable support for nonprofit organizations.
Total Proposal Building, 2nd edition, 1988. An expert system dedicated to one result -- winning grants and contracts from government, corporations, and foundations.
Writing Up Qualitative Research This book provides practical advice for writing your qualitative research while weaving in the theoretical concepts for developing the scholarliness of your work. An especially useful list of outside references is included, covering both methods and samples of various types of research.
