The closing date for the Jacob K. Javits Fellowships for the FY 2004 is October 3, 2003. This fellowship is based on financial need.

Please read the information listed below which I received from Javits that might assist you and your students. If you have any questions, please contact Javits directly as the competition is not handled on the IUB campus.

Please be aware that the U.S. Department of Education recently launched a thoroughly revised version of its site on the World Wide Web. Thousands of web files were converted and moved to new locations in a relatively short period of time. Among the relocated files is the Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program web page which was previously listed under URL http://www.ed.gov/offices/OPE/HEP/iegps/javits.html . The recent changes took effect on September 8 without prior notification to the program staff, and has led to difficulty in accessing the new Javits Fellowship Program URL. Please assist us by advising both administrators and applicants to use the new URL, http://www.ed.gov/programs/iegpsjavits/index.html, to access both Javits program and FY 2004 competition information. We sincerely apologize for any complications resulting from these adjustments.
