Meet Our Students
Nan Jiang
Ph.D. student in health behavior
“I enjoy being a member of the HPER community,” says doctoral student Nan Jiang, who worked as a nurse in China before coming to IU for graduate study. “I like the culture and environment of the campus, and I’ve found the HPER faculty and administration to be open and supportive.” She says that IU’s highly ranked program in health education is closely matched to her career interests. “I hope to work with international health organizations to design programs to promote HIV/AIDS prevention among youth in China.”

Educational Testing Service

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores
All students whose first language is not English must submit TOEFL scores. For both undergraduate and graduate admission, a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test, or 213 on the computer-based test, or 79-80 on the Internet-based test is required for admission. The TOEFL is administered by the Educational Testing Service once each month at locations throughout the world. Information about TOEFL administration schedules may be obtained from the Educational Testing Service at the address above.
Students whose first language is not English must also take an English language placement test upon arrival at Indiana University. The results of this test are used to determine what, if any, remedial English courses must be successfully completed before graduate study begins. International students should understand that all admissions are granted conditionally, upon verification of English language proficiency, and that enrollment in graduate course work is not permitted, or is limited, until all language deficiencies have been removed.
