elcome to the
Kelley School of Business’ Information Systems Department
-- a department uniquely positioned to educate leaders who can “Make
the Connection” between people, technology, systems, and business
for the 21st century. Our mission is to develop the skills and knowledge
necessary to design, develop, use, manage, and study information
systems in increasingly complex and dynamic global business environments.
We serve to educate business professionals–in every discipline–who
must understand the competitive possibilities enabled through and
with technology. Our mission is clearly ambitious, precisely because
we choose to work at the cutting edge. Students, faculty, and our
corporate partners come to the Information Systems Department because
they want to be working on the frontiers of business and technology.
The Information Systems Department offers degree programs at every
level. Graduates of our undergraduate CIS major or BIS co-major
and the Master of Science in IS possess specialized technical and
systems skills and knowledge directly connected to critical business
and managerial skills and knowledge. Our MBA students, with a major
in Operations & Systems Management or a minor in IS, possess
innovative perspectives vital for business success in today's technology-driven
environment. Through our Ph.D. program we develop scholars who seek
to understand beliefs about how information systems operate and
how they affect the people, groups, and organizations that use them.
In all our degree programs, our goal is to develop the skills and
knowledge necessary for graduates to systematically address the
challenging problems and opportunities facing organizations in the
21st century.
The Information System Department houses an outstanding group of
nationally and internationally recognized faculty. Currently ranked
2nd in the U.S. for research publications, our faculty are widely
recognized for their contributions to theory and practice. Our belief
that theory, practice, and our educational programs must be combined
is evidenced through our strong relationships within the practitioner
community. Relationships with companies such as Cisco, British-American
Tobacco, Eli Lilly, Ford, John Deere, State Farm, and IBM, among
many others, have resulted in closely coupled cooperation in research,
doctoral education, and curriculum development. In addition to being
the home for outstanding scholars, the Information Systems Department
possesses exemplar teachers. Our faculty and lecturers have been
the recipients of numerous teaching awards and honors for both undergraduate
and graduate education.
As the Information Systems Department, we are committed to developing
and delivering the best IS education and research possible. Come
experience what makes us different. Join us as we “Make the
Connection” between people, technology, systems, and business
to invent the future.
