Overview
The Information Systems Department offers two degrees: (i)
the Computer Information Systems (CIS) major and (ii) the
Business Information Systems (BIS) co-major.
A Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in CIS is
designed for students interested in the challenging and high-demand
field of information systems. This field requires graduates
who can “make the connection” between people,
technology,
systems, and
business practices.
Our CIS graduates are trained to help ensure that organizations
can reap the benefits of information systems in competitive
and volatile marketplaces.
The CIS curriculum emphasizes analysis, design, development
and implementation of information systems, data management,
data communications, as well as topical areas like electronic
commerce and information systems security. An array of career
opportunities with corporate IS groups or consulting firms
are available. Students interested in careers such as systems
analyst, systems programmer, systems designers, database administrators,
data analysts and information systems-oriented management
will find the CIS concentration particularly useful.
A Bachelor of Science in Business with a co-major in BIS
is designed for students whose primary major is in another
area (e.g., marketing, finance) , and who want to complement
their core skill set with information systems knowledge. A
BIS co-major will help students leverage technology in the
functional area (e.g., marketing, finance).
A CIS/BIS major in the Kelley School can expect:
- World-class faculty
- Quality students
- Excellent facilities
- Cutting-edge curriculum
- Diverse and exciting career options
The IS Department is uniquely positioned to educate future
leaders who can “Make the Connection” between
people, technology, systems, and business for the 21st century.
