AMERICAN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION

The National Science Foundation, in cooperation with the Department of
Education’s National Center for Education Statistics and the Office of Educational Research and Improvement jointly fund a research and training program administered by the American Educational Research Association. Program is intended to enhance the capability of the U.S. research community to use large-scale, nationally representative NSF and NCES data sets to conduct studies of education policy and practice.

Mechanisms include 1 ($15,000 max.) and 2 year ($25,000 max.) research
grants, dissertation grants, and post-doctoral fellowships (3 year max.)

ASSOCIATION FOR INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH

NIH INDIVIDUAL TRAINING GRANTS:

Available from: NIAAA, NIDA, NIMH.

F31 Mechanism – Up to five years of support for pre-doctoral students who have completed comprehensive exams. Funds provided to support training and dissertation research. Award includes annual stipend; $2,500 annually to support research supplies, equipment, travel to professional meetings, etc.; and 100% of tuition on first $3,000 and 60% of tuition in excess of $3,000. Special “set asides” for minority and disabled students.

Up to three years of support for advanced study to approximately 900 first year graduate students. Awarded in March, annual stipend of $20,500.00 with an additional cost-of-education allowance of $10,500.

NSF DISSERTATION IMPROVEMENT GRANTS:

One year of support for pre-doctoral students who have completed comprehensive exams and have “defended” a Ph.D. prospectus. Funds provided to support dissertation research, ONLY. Award limited to $7,500 for research costs. NO annual stipend included.

NIJ GRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM:
