This week in club! (08/28/05)

Hello everyone! Again, welcome back to Bloomington for those who are returning for the fall semester! Club will be meeting as usual this week from 5:45-7:15 in HPER 163.

1. Recfest - Thanks to everyone that came out and supported Taekwondo Club at the table and demo on Friday! We had a large number of people come up to the table who were interested in what we do, so hopefully we will be seeing some new faces in club over the next few weeks.

2. In-Class Demos - We will need a handful of volunteers to go to each of the intro HPER E-150 classes and try to recruit some new members from those who are enrolled in beginner classes. There will be sign-up sheets in club this week. Please take a look at your schedules for next week (8/5- 8/9) to see if you can help out. These demos will only take about 20 minutes of your time, and they are one of our most successful recruitment techniques, so please help out if you can!

3. Attitude/Etiquette/Welcoming - We want to start TKD club off on a good foot this semester. ALL returning members help set the tone of practice so please come back enthusiastic and ready to practice! Also, just because some of our forms and techniques are rusty, that doesn't mean that our manners have to be rusty too! Please remember good etiquette to help set a good example for the new members, and make these new members feel welcome in any way you can. You don't have to be an officer or instructor to greet new members. Even a simple hello or casual introduction can go a long way in making these new participants feel comfortable at club.

4. Dues - Dues are $35/semester for non-black belts and $10/semester for black belts. You get 3 free practices before we ask that you pay dues. Please try to get your dues payment as soon as you can. You can enter a raffle drawing for a free uniform (the really nice Adidas kind) if you pay your dues before September 30th.

5. P498 - Mr. Burns is looking for more students to help out in martial arts classes this semester. P498 is a great program in which students can gain a bit of teaching and leadership experience by being an AI in a martial arts class. If you are at least a purple belt, you are eligible. Please stop by his office or talk to one of the club instructors if interested.

Thanks and see you in club!

RECFEST 2005

Come to RECFEST 2005 to see the IU Tae Kwon Do club and learn what we have to offer! We will be performing a demo as well.

Friday, August 26, 2005 1 p.m. - 3 p.m @ the HPER (near the parking lot)

Hope to see you all there!
