It is the role of the Lilly Library to stimulate the intellectual curiosity of both the dedicated researcher and the casual visitor. In order to achieve this, the Library promotes a wide range of activities including exhibitions and special events such as poetry readings, musical performances and receptions, as well as lectures, tours, and class presentations.

"Blue at the Mizzen: Patrick O'Brian and the 19th Century Naval World"
June 2 to September 6, 2008
"Blue at the Mizzen: Patrick O'Brian and the 19th Century Naval World" features the work of novelist Patrick O'Brian, best-known for his series of Aubrey-Maturin books about the British Navy of the early 19th century. The holdings of the Lilly Library include the manuscript drafts and research notes for most of these novels as well as other related O'Brian materials. The exhibition will also display historical books and manuscripts illustrating the naval world of the period.

Lincoln Room
"Ian Fleming"
A small exhibition in honor of the 100th birthday of Ian Fleming on May 28. On display are manuscripts, photographs, and books relating to the James Bond novels and films. Also on exhibit are books from Ian Fleming's renowned collection of books relating to milestones in the 19th- and 20th-century civilization.
