In 1993, the class tables for many of the languages of the former Soviet Union changed. Originally, the numbers for the Northwestern Kipchak group of languages:

Balkar, Bashkir, Crimean- Tatar, Karachay-Balkar, Karaim, Karakalpak, Kazakh, Kirghiz, Kumyk, Nogai and Tatar

were assigned a single cutter number under PL65. Each of these languages now has a single number.

• All authors writing in these languages will be assigned new cutter numbers whether or not they have been established previously.
