IPCRES will have a relatively simple organization and management structure described below. The principal committee will be the IPCRES Steering Committee. Total commitment of IU to IPCRES will be assured through the chairing of this Committee by the Indiana University President. Its membership will consist of the IU Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (who will assist the President in his role as Chair of this Committee), the IPCRES Science Director, the IPCRES Director of Economic Development, the Dean/Director of the School of Informatics, and the President of the Indiana University Advanced Research and Technology Institute (ARTI). This represents the key partners in IPCRES and the key executives. Additional members may be added as needed.
The IPCRES Science Director will be a researcher of international standing experienced in connecting research in information technology with economic development issues. The IPCRES Laboratories will report to the IPCRES Science Director and faculty and staff in them will be affiliated with the new School of Informatics or with other appropriate Schools and Departments.
The IPCRES Director of Economic Development will run an Office within IPCRES specifically focused on the economic development program of the Initiative, and will be IPCRES' main continuing representative to business, industry and government.
External advice and guidance will be provided to IPCRES by a Distinguished Research and Economic Development Advisory Board. Members of this Advisory Board will be chosen from some of IU's most distinguished alumni and other national figures in information technology who have a particular association with some aspect of pervasive computing.
Internal advice will be provided to IPCRES by an Indiana University Board of Advisors. Serving on the Board will be IU academic and research leaders, including the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School, distinguished faculty, and school deans.
