Dean for
Women's Affairs Dean Yvette M. Alex-Assensoh, by training and profession, is a political scientist and an attorney. She conducts research and teaches in the area of American politics. In law, she specializes in family law and mediation. Her research focuses primarily on civic engagement among marginalized groups, including women and racial minorities. A native of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Dean Alex-Assensoh has served as a Fulbright scholar at University of Zagreb, Croatia. She is a licensed attorney. Also, she is the author/co-author of four books and several published scholarly essays and book chapters. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Ford Foundation, the Spencer Foundation and the National Academy of Education (NAE). She and her husband are the proud parents of two sons: 12-year-old Kwadwo and 10-year-old Livingston. They live in Bloomington, where they have in their home "Puff", their miniature poodle. Linda McCammon, Linda brings several years of IU experience to OWA from the Department
of English and the Honors College. Born and raised in Monroe County, she
is a committed seamstress and a cross-stitch enthusiast. Le Anh Long Le Anh works to promote, facilitate and evaluate a wide range of programming and activities for students, faculty and staff. Le Anh is pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Policy at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Before returning to Indiana University, Le Anh served as the Research Director for the Indiana Economic Development Council where she was the project manager of the State’s Economic Development Plan and oversaw the planning activities for the State’s twelve regional offices. When Le Anh is not working with OWA or busy with her studies she can be found enjoying all that Bloomington has to offer alongside her daughter Kaytlin. Ottawa Sanders Brooke Treadwell Brooke works to support women faculty and students in Science, Mathematics and Technology through organizing community outreach, academic and social events. Brooke is also a Ph.D. candidate in Education Policy Studies with a minor in Non-Profit Management. Prior to joining the OWA Brooke worked with Burmese refugees in Thailand as a Program Officer for World Education. In Thailand she trained local teachers, wrote curricula and ran a school for gifted refugee students. She also trained refugee staff in sexual harassment awareness. As an undergraduate Brooke worked on a sexual assault crisis helpline and trained phone counselors for this service.
Brandi Masterson, In addition to her roles as the Office for Women's Affairs departmental secretary and a member of the Gender Incidents Team, Brandi maintains the Office of Women's Affairs web sites. Prior to her appointment in OWA, Brandi was a Program Records Assistant for the 21st Century Scholars Program. Born and raised in Lawrence County, Brandi now resides in rural Monroe County.
