This is Dr. Alexander's 13th year at IU as a faculty member in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology. Joyce specializes in research dealing with learning, cognition, and instruction and has taught courses on a variety of related subjects including motivation, children's thinking, effective college teaching, and applied cognition and learning strategies. Her current NSF-funded project examines the role of home support and individual differences in the support of early learning, particularly through play experiences.

Throughout the course, I encourage you to talk with me anytime you have a question, idea, problem, or concern. I should normally be able to respond to email within 48 hours, often sooner. Phone calls are welcome; we I am not always in my office, but I have voice mail, so you can leave a message and I'll return your call. Finally, if you're in or near Bloomington, a face-to-face meeting is always a nice idea.
