Assistant Professor Philosophy. University of Michigan, J.D. 1997, M.A. 1999, Ph.D. 2003. He worked as a law clerk for Justice Charles Fried of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, 1997-1998. He was the H.L.A. Hart Visiting Fellow at University College, Oxford and the Center in Ethics and Legal Philosophy in Hilary Term, 2006. Dr. Toh's research is mainly in metaethics and philosophy of law. He also has interests in philosophy of action, political philosophy, and the history of practical philosophy in the twentieth century. He is interested in the nature of ethical and legal judgments — with their similarities and differences, issues of objectivity and truth, and the possibility of characterizing them in purely descriptive vocabulary. |
