E-mail To Sun Lee

The seven year old girl raced down the sidewalk with her best friend. Jean's brown hair puffed around her face in the windy city. Her blue eyes crinkled at the corners as she laughed at Sun Lee.

“I win,” Sun Lee shouted.

Out of breath, the girls climbed the stairs.

“Dolly,” Sun Lee's mother said, “I am going to miss you.”

“I will miss you, too, Kim,” Jean's mother said.

“Where are we going, Mother?” Jean asked.

Dolly and Kim looked at each other.

“Oh, no,” Sun Lee said. “Daddy got his orders.”

“Yes,” Kim replied.

“When are we moving?” Sun Lee began to cry. “And where?”

Jean's eyes filled with tears. This can't be true, she thought. My best friend is moving far away.

Kim held Sun Lee. “We are going to Europe for awhile. It will be exciting.”

“Jean, I'll teach you to write e-mail. You can use my computer,” Dolly said.
