Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both languages as well as on the literatures and cultures of the Catalan and Spanish speaking worlds is essential. Native or near-native proficiency. Ph.D. in hand or expected by date of appointment. Evidence of excellent research potential and effective teaching is required.

Visiting Lecturer Position

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University invites applications for Visiting Lecturer positions for the 2008-09 academic year, beginning August 2008. These are one -year appointments with possible renewal for one year, subject to institutional need and job performance.

Duties involve teaching first and/or second-year Spanish, 3 courses per semester. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish; MA (ABD preferred) in Spanish, applied linguistics, or related field. Desirable: evidence of excellence in teaching college-level Spanish; experience with computer-assisted instruction. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate native-speaker proficiency in Spanish, and a solid background in the communicative approach. Multimedia experience is also desirable.

Salary: $ 36,000 plus benefits.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University invites applications for Visiting Assistant Professor positions for the 2008-2009 academic year, beginning August, 2008. These are one year, 10-month appointments, with possibility of one one-year renewal.

Responsibilities: Teach three classes in Spanish per semester at the third-year level: advanced grammar and composition, introduction to Spanish American literature and culture, and/or introduction to Hispanic Linguistics.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in hand by date of appointment; evidence of teaching effectiveness; native or near-native command of Spanish.

Salary: $40,000 plus benefits.
