Grades are awarded on the following basis: 

A 4.0 Excellent

A- 3.7

B+ 3.3

B 3.0 Good

B- 2.7

C+ 2.3

C 2.0 Average

C- 1.7 *see note

D+ 1.3 *see note

D 1.0 Poor

D- 0.7

F 0.0 Unsatisfactory

*Note: Credit hours in Theatre and Drama for majors and minors must be completed with a grade of at least a C- (the cumulative GPA in the major & minor, as well as overall, must be 2.0 or better.)

Policy on Student Academic and Personal Misconduct

Faculty are required to report all incidents of academic misconduct to the Dean of Students and may report incidents of personal misconduct, such as classroom incivility. For information about policies and procedures, including due process requirements, see the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct, especially Part III: Student Misconduct and Part IV: Student Disciplinary Procedures. Copies of the code can be obtained from the Dean of Students. The code is also accessible on the internet at http://www.dsa.indiana.edu/Code/.

Academic Honesty

“Plagiarism: A student must not adopt or reproduce ideas, words, or statements of another person without appropriate acknowledgment. A student must give credit to the originality of others and acknowledge an indebtedness whenever he or she does any of the following:

  1. Quotes another person's actual words, either oral or written;
  2. Paraphrases another person's words, either oral or written;
  3. Uses another person's idea, opinion, or theory; or
  4. Borrows facts, statistics, or other illustrative material, unless the information is common knowledge.” Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct.
