ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF THEATRE TECHNOLOGY

The Department of Theatre and Drama at Indiana University, seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Theatre Technology to head its MFA in Theatre Technology program and serve as the Department's Technical Director. This position is a full time, tenure track appointment to begin in August 2008.

The Department of Theatre and Drama offers the BA, BFA, MA, MAT, MFA and PhD degrees and is part of an arts oriented campus and community. The Department typically produces twelve fully staged productions, workshop productions and a modern dance concert, all produced in the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center (2002) and the Brown County Playhouse. A fourth studio theatre is in the planning stage. The successful applicant will join the creative and forward looking design and technology area faculty, where collaboration and artistic risk are valued.

Teaching responsibilities include ongoing curriculum development, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in stagecraft, drafting (manual and CAD), rigging, shop management, theatre electronics/logic control, and technology courses that include necessary elements of static mechanics, scenery automation, and professional practice. In addition, the individual will recruit, advise and mentor all students in the MFA Theatre Technology program. As Technical Director, the individual will establish shop policies, logistical, budgetary, and scheduling priorities and be responsible for the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of all aspects of Department production activities and supervise the professional staff Assistant Technical Director.

The successful applicant must possess an MFA or PhD in theatre or equivalent professional experience, have a minimum of three years teaching, and demonstrated ability as a technical director, teacher, and collaborator. Ongoing professional/creative activity and/or research and participation in organizations such as USITT is expected.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF THEATRE HISTORY 

The Department of Theatre and Drama at Indiana University, Bloomington is seeking applicants for a tenure track faculty position in theatre history. Many research specializations are possible with the exceptions of United States or Indian Theatre. Duties include teaching courses on graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants must have strong commitment to teaching, established research profile, and be dedicated to working collaboratively. Minimum three years of teaching at a faculty level is desired. Completed Ph.D. degree and college teaching experience are required.

FACULTY MUSIC DIRECTOR FOR B.F.A. MUSICAL THEATRE PROGRAM

The Department of Theatre and Drama at Indiana University seeks applicants for a tenure track musical director/instructor of voice to teach in newly formed Musical Theatre BFA program. Duties include serving as music director for musicals, teaching singing to BFA students (with other voice faculty) and courses in musical theatre. Some accompanying required. Production direction possible. Applicants must have at least two years of teaching experience, professional profile, and be dedicated to working collaboratively. MM, DM, MFA, Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience required.
