Turnitin has announced several upgrades for the coming year. The upgrades are scheduled for release on December 30, 2004 and will include several key GradeBook enhancements, custom time zone preferences and more precise assignment start and due dates, an improved new user interface, better password retrieval, and a new series of mailing lists for Turnitin administrators. Included in the new feature set are: a major search engine upgrade; discussion boards for students and teachers; Quick Submit; improved class sections; and many more (note: some features may not be available through our license).

Academic Integrity and Plagiarism: Strategies for Instructors
Wed June 16, 2:00-4:00 LIB 305. A panel consisting of IUB instructors and instructional support staff, will present seven strategies to help instructors encourage academic integrity in their students. These strategies include communicating the value of academic honesty to students, encouraging proper citation of sources, informing students which behaviors are considered to be plagiarism, using tools that encourage academic honesty.

IUB's pilot subscription to Turnitin has been extended through summer 2005. Instructors will continue to have access to Turnitin this summer and the 2004-05 academic year . TLTC will continue to provide training and collect feedback about the tool.
