AVIDD, which stands for Analysis and
Visualization of Instrument-Driven Data, is a distributed computing facility with components
at IU Bloomington, IUPUI, and IU Northwest. AVIDD will:
- Manage very large data sets
- Provide facilities for analysis of real-time data streams
- Enable scientists to interact with and analyze data with distributed visualization
environments
The AVIDD facility is opening new
doors for research at Indiana University because its novel design addresses the full life
cycle of data analysis including intake, storage, analysis, and visualization. AVIDD is
aimed at a great diversity of sciences, including the life sciences, geophysics,
atmospheric sciences, physics, and chemistry. There are few, if any, similar efforts in
existence today.
- The presentation will be broadcast live to the following locations:
- IUPUI University Library, Lilly Auditorium
IUN Hawthorn Hall 105

tours
IU researchers will demonstrate innovative applications currently
running on the AVIDD facility, making use of its data management,
computational, and visualization capabilities. Planned demonstrations
will include chemical applications, computer science, and high energy
physics. Tours of the UITS machine room in the Wrubel Computing Center
will also be available. |
