Nat King Cole 1960-64
September 7, 2007

This week on Afterglow we'll feature music from the last five years of Nat King Cole's career, a period that found him singing everything from pop, novelty, and big band numbers to country-western and show tunes. We'll devote an entire set to his masterful late-night torch-ballad record Where Did Everyone Go, and we'll hear Cole's collaborations with George Shearing and Billy May, plus more music drawn from the new Bear Family collection, L-O-V-E. Other artists on this edition of Afterglow include pianists Duke Jordan and Hank Jones, Johnny Hodges with Billy Strayhorn, bandleader and arranger Onzy Matthews, and singer Kurt Elling. "Nat King Cole 1960-64" airs Friday, Sept. 7 at 10:05 p.m. EST on WFIU.

Afterglow airs every Friday evening at 10:05 p.m. EST on WFIU. Broadcasts are made available for listening at any time the following week in the Afterglow archives.
